TANNER (Paul) and Bill Cox “EVERY NIGHT WAS NEW YEAR’S EVE” ...on the road with GLENN MILLER Tokyo: Cosmo Space 1992 124pp. Hardback. 10 x 10 inches. Illustrated. Near mint with original wrap-around band over dust wrapper.
Paul Tanner played trombone in the Glenn Miller band from 1938 to 1942. There is a label pasted to the front free endpaper with a reproduction of Tanner’s signature, but more interesting is a typed letter signed by Tanner addressed to Geoffrey Butcher regarding the latter’s book, Next To A Letter From Home: Major Glenn Miller’s Wartime Band. In addition, there is a 3-page handwritten draft of a reply by Butcher in which he praises Tanner’s book highly: “For a Miller fan it is really irresistable - the history, the wonderful anecdotes, the light-hearted style of writing, etc and the presentation of famous names as real people.” Price:
